Gorillas with a fuller safari around them
Unlike a fly-in-fly-out Volcanoes trip, Uganda can deliver forest, savanna and water in one itinerary.

Kampala · Bwindi · Queen Elizabeth · Kidepo
Uganda is the destination we recommend when the brief wants gorillas plus variety: chimpanzees in Kibale, tree-climbing lions in Ishasha, the Nile at Jinja, and Kidepo for clients who think they have already seen East Africa.
Uganda is the destination we recommend when the brief wants gorillas plus variety: chimpanzees in Kibale, tree-climbing lions in Ishasha, the Nile at Jinja, and Kidepo for clients who think they have already seen East Africa.
It is less ‘packaged’ than Kenya and less permit-tight than Rwanda, which can mean better availability for a 16-person leadership group at Clouds or Sanctuary Gorilla Forest Camp — if we move early.
Kampala is the meeting layer — Serena, Sheraton, Speke Munyonyo and Lake Victoria Serena can hold a board or a 200-delegate conference before anyone flies west. Entebbe is the airport, not the city: we transfer with a briefing, not a tour on landing day.
Entry and health
Why Uganda
Unlike a fly-in-fly-out Volcanoes trip, Uganda can deliver forest, savanna and water in one itinerary.
Clouds Mountain Gorilla Lodge, Kyambura Gorge, Apoka — properties with a point of view, suited to director groups.
Kampala Serena’s conference centre, Speke Resort Munyonyo on the lake, and Sheraton gardens give Uganda a city product Kenya planners already understand — then the forest is a scheduled flight, not a 10-hour bus.
Source-of-the-Nile visits, quiet boat time, or a carefully run adventure morning at Jinja for younger incentive demographics.
Services
Each service in Uganda has its own planner brief — group size, venues, lead time and what we will not do.

Excursions
Full day
Multiple sectors (Buhoma, Ruhija, Rushaga, Nkuringo) let us match fitness and lodge location. Permits are essential and timed.
MICE fit: Headline experience. Split groups by fitness; never surprise a guest with a six-hour steep trek.
Half or full day
The most reliable chimp experience in the region, often paired with crater-lake scenery.
MICE fit: Excellent second wildlife chapter; less physically demanding than Bwindi.
2 nights
Kazinga Channel boat, Kyambura gorge chimps, Ishasha’s tree-climbing lions. Kyambura Gorge Lodge is the MICE-friendly flagship.
MICE fit: The ‘safari’ counterweight to forest days.
2–3 nights
Remote, dry, spectacular. Apoka Safari Lodge. For groups that will remember emptiness more than crowds.
MICE fit: High-end, small groups, extra air cost — worth it for the right brief.
1–2 nights
A closed programme in the capital: board or plenary at Kampala Serena or Speke Munyonyo, diplomatic-quarter hotels, Kasubi or the Uganda Museum when the brief wants culture, and a lake dinner at Munyonyo or Lake Victoria Serena. We do not run unstructured downtown evenings.
MICE fit: The Uganda city night — same role Nairobi plays before the Mara. Hold the working session here, then fly west. Speke Munyonyo is the house when the list is a conference, not a 12-person board.
Day trip from Kampala/Entebbe
History, river, optional adventure. We keep corporate groups on the right side of safety briefings.
MICE fit: Team-energy incentives and a contrast day after forest.
Experiences

Full day
Bwindi Impenetrable Forest trek
Uganda’s gorilla morning — sector-matched to fitness (Buhoma, Ruhija, Rushaga, Nkuringo) and lodged at Clouds, Sanctuary or Volcanoes Bwindi Lodge.
Uganda destination →
Half or full day
Kibale chimpanzee tracking
East Africa’s most reliable chimpanzee encounter — a lighter physical day than Bwindi, and a primate story that photographs differently from gorillas.
Uganda destination →
Day trip from Kampala/Entebbe
Source of the Nile, Jinja
River, history, and optional adventure — a contrast day that reminds the group they are in the Pearl of Africa, not only in a forest permit queue.
Uganda destination →
1–2 nights city + gorilla or savanna chapter
Kampala board morning, forest next
A working session at Kampala Serena or Speke Resort Munyonyo, then a scheduled flight west — the Uganda version of Nairobi-plus-bush.
Uganda destination →
2 nights
Queen Elizabeth and the Kazinga Channel
Uganda’s savanna counterweight to the forest: Kazinga Channel boat, Ishasha’s tree-climbing lions when luck holds, Kyambura gorge chimps as a lighter primate morning than Bwindi.
Uganda destination →
2–3 nights
Kidepo Plains
Remote, dry, spectacular. The Uganda chapter groups remember as emptiness rather than crowds. Worth it for the right brief; we will say no when the diary or the budget is a day-return fantasy.
Uganda destination →Weather & when to go
June–September is the planner default. December–February is the winter-incentive window.
Incentives: Bwindi lodges are small — contract rooms and permits together. Do not assume Rwanda-style One&Only volume.
Meetings: Kampala Serena, Sheraton and Speke Munyonyo handle boards and conferences year-round. Keep the working session in Kampala before the forest, not after a trek day. Entebbe is for late arrivals and early departures — not the meeting city unless the group never leaves the lake.
| Season | Months | Planner notes |
|---|---|---|
| Drier windows | June – September and December – February | Preferred for trekking and Kidepo. Still expect forest mud in Bwindi — it is rainforest. |
| Rain peaks | March – May and October – November | Lush, fewer visitors, some roads slower. Meetings in Kampala unaffected. |
Flights & access
EBB
Entebbe International
Only practical international gateway; 40–90 minutes to Kampala hotels, traffic dependent; 25–40 minutes to Speke Munyonyo and Lake Victoria Serena
United Kingdom & Europe
Uganda Airlines, KLM, Brussels, Emirates, Qatar, Turkish, Ethiopian, Kenya Airways
Entebbe sits on the lake — arrivals feel immediately tropical. We transfer with water and a briefing, not a city tour on landing day.
United States & Canada
One or two-stop via Europe or the Gulf
Always a recovery night in Entebbe or Kampala before flying or driving west.
Middle East
Emirates Dubai–Entebbe; Qatar; flydubai connections
Strong overnight patterns.
India & Asia
Emirates, Qatar, Ethiopian, Kenya Airways via NBO
Mumbai–EBB via the Gulf is a common incentive routing.
South Africa
Kenya Airways via NBO; Ethiopian; Uganda Airlines patterns from the region
Entebbe is a lake arrival — transfer and sleep before the west.
Latin America
Via Europe or the Gulf to EBB
Yellow fever certificates are required upon arrival. Collect with passports. Recovery night mandatory.
Scheduled and charter flights to Kihihi, Kisoro, Kasese and Kidepo save punishing road days. We still use the road when the scenery is the point (crater lakes) and the group is not time-poor. Helicopter is available for buy-out groups.
Stays
A featured set we brief for MICE. The full inventory — size, amenities and airstrip access — lives on the stays page. Availability on request.

Community gorilla lodge
Clouds Mountain Gorilla Lodge
Nkuringo, Bwindi Impenetrable Forest
Stone cottages above the forest, community-owned, fireplaces, and a view that makes the Nkuringo sector worth the extra walk. Strong story for purpose-led incentives.

Tented gorilla camp
Sanctuary Gorilla Forest Camp
Buhoma, Bwindi
Inside the park at Buhoma — short transfer to many trailheads, canvas luxury, and a scale that suits 8–16 guests who want to fall asleep to the forest.

Conservation lodge
Kyambura Gorge Lodge
Queen Elizabeth National Park
Wildplaces’ flagship: crater views, gorge chimps, and a restoration narrative that leadership teams remember. The safari counterweight to Bwindi.

Remote safari lodge
Apoka Safari Lodge
Kidepo Valley National Park
Kidepo is the Uganda card we play for groups who think they have seen East Africa. Apoka is the lodge that makes the extra flight rational.

Hillside gorilla lodge
Volcanoes Safaris Bwindi Lodge
Buhoma, Bwindi
A reliable Buhoma base with cottage views and a conservation foundation story. Useful when we need a slightly larger gorilla-lodge footprint than a six-tent camp.

Sample itineraries

5 nights · 6-day outline
Entebbe recovery night, Bwindi trek matched to fitness, then Queen Elizabeth or Jinja. Smaller lodges than One&Only Rwanda — we contract rooms and permits together.
8–16 directors

6 nights · 7-day outline
Kampala Serena, Sheraton or Speke Munyonyo for the working session, then a scheduled hop west. Permits and lodge rooms contracted together. Entebbe is the airport; Kampala is the meeting. Nobody treks on landing day.
8–24

6 nights · 7-day outline
Entebbe night, Kibale chimp tracking, then Kyambura or Ishasha. Lighter walking than Bwindi, a boat on the Kazinga, tree-climbing lions if luck holds. The Uganda itinerary when gorilla permits are not the centrepiece.
10–24

7 nights · 8-day outline
One Kampala night, then Apoka or peer in Kidepo. Extra air cost, extra silence. We only sell this when the group will remember the plains more than a lodge spa. Not a 40-person awards trip.
8–16 directors

7 nights · 8-day outline
Nairobi hub, a short Mara or Amboseli chapter if the night count allows, then Entebbe and Bwindi. Yellow fever on the first checklist. Lodge scale in Bwindi is smaller than One&Only — we say so in the RFP.
8–20

8 nights · 9-day outline
Northern circuit or Serengeti flagship, then EBB and Bwindi. Yellow fever on the passport checklist. Lodge split in the forest if the list is over one camp. We fly; we do not invent a 12-hour road.
8–20

4 nights · 5-day outline
Entebbe recovery, light-aircraft to Bwindi, a fitness-matched trek, one recovery night in the forest, then home. Smaller lodge scale than One&Only Rwanda — we contract rooms and permits together.
8–16 directors
FAQ
Rwanda for polish, short transfers and One&Only/Singita inventory. Uganda for variety, value on permits, and a fuller safari. Many multi-country programmes do Rwanda gorillas and Tanzania or Kenya savanna.
Kampala when there is a meeting, a conference or a proper capital dinner. Entebbe (or Lake Victoria Serena at Kigo) when the group lands late, departs early, or the brief is lake-and-golf rather than the city. We do not make guests commute Kampala–Entebbe twice in a day without a reason.
Only by splitting lodges and trek days. We would rather tell you that in the RFP than fail on the ground.
Tanzania, Kenya, Rwanda, Uganda and Zanzibar require a yellow fever vaccination certificate upon arrival. We collect it with passports on the rooming list — do not leave it to the airport queue.
