Can we combine multiple countries in one MICE programme?
Yes, if you have the nights: safari then Zanzibar, Seychelles or Mauritius; gorillas then savanna; Ethiopia then lagoon. No, if you are collecting stamps. One operations owner, one rooming list, one visa matrix — and no gala on a travel night.
What we tell planners
Yes. Multi-country is a standard East Africa MICE product when the diary has enough nights. The combinations that stay operable: Kilimanjaro–Serengeti or Ngorongoro–Zanzibar (about 6–8 nights); Kenya Mara plus a Tanzania chapter with an immigration design; safari then Mauritius or Seychelles with a full travel day before the gala; Rwanda or Uganda gorillas then Kenya or Tanzania savanna then an island (typically 9–12 nights); Ethiopia highlands then a Mauritius close. Incentive houses should not compress any of these into a six-night ‘greatest hits’ tour.
Corporate travel agents need one DMC as operations owner so Kenya–Tanzania immigration, Kigali–Nairobi hops, and ADD–MRU finales are one annex, not three WhatsApp groups. The East Africa Tourist Visa can cover Kenya, Uganda and Rwanda — it does not include Tanzania. Zanzibar is Tanzania for immigration. Nationality stays on the rooming list. Light-aircraft luggage is not widebody luggage.
Meetings and conferences can combine a city plenary with a short safari or beach overlay — Kenya (Nairobi then Wilson to the Mara) is the efficient version; Mauritius is the lagoon version. A 400-delegate congress does not ‘combine’ with a tented camp. We will not staple eight countries because the map looks impressive.
