Lodge working session
A board or management table in a Kenya or Tanzania lodge that has a real room and an honest wifi note. Most bush lodges sleep 150 on double occupancy (75 single); meeting rooms are 80–120. Intimate tented camps stay 8–24. This is still a meeting, not a leadership retreat.
Island working session
One serious morning on Zanzibar, Seychelles or Mauritius — at a house that already has a working room. Scale differs: a Stone Town or Mahé board is not a Mauritius banquet. Use the island when the meeting is the reason, or when the list is already flying and needs a closed session before the close.

A meetings DMC holds the destination annex: venue or lodge that matches the agenda, rooming, internal air, transfers, an honest AV and connectivity note, entry guidance, and a named operations desk. International long-haul usually stays with the agency or travel manager.

Questions planners ask before they brief a meeting
What types of corporate meetings does SEDMC operate?
Agenda-led working sessions: board meetings, management meetings, executive meetings and other corporate gatherings that still have to hold. We place the session, contract the room and the nights around it, and say when the brief is actually a conference, an incentive or a retreat.
How does a meetings DMC differ from a MICE DMC?

Which destinations work for a working session versus a large event?
All eight destinations can hold a working session when the room is honest. Nairobi, Arusha, Addis and Mauritius are where larger rooms already exist. Kigali, Kampala, Zanzibar and Seychelles stay compact. A dealer congress or association plenary belongs on the conferences hub.
Can a meeting sit in a safari lodge?
Yes, when the lodge has a working room and we write what the wifi will and will not do. A three-day slide-heavy agenda still belongs in a city hotel. A six-tent camp is not a meeting campus. How far in advance should a corporate meeting be planned?
City hotels typically need 6–12 months. Peak safari camps and private-island houses take longer — the destination brief will say. Send dates when they are real, not after the slides are already written.
Can a meeting programme include destination experiences?
Yes, as a chapter after the working session: a bush hop, an island close, a highland or coffee morning. That does not turn this page into incentive travel or an executive retreat. Those programme types have their own hubs.
What belongs in a meetings RFP?
Company, headcount, occupancy, dates, whether the session stays in a city, and whether a lodge or island chapter is in play. A complete brief gets a same-week outline. We do not publish website rates the hotel then contradicts.
