Why East Africa / Why Us

Why East Africa for corporate meetings and incentive travel — and why this DMC.

East Africa combines wildlife that still feels unrepeatable, Indian Ocean recovery, and air hubs that work for South Africa, Europe, the USA, Canada and Latin America. Serengeti Experience DMC is the on-ground partner: 20 years of East Africa MICE expertise, three offices, and operations manuals written before the welcome letter.

Agencies brief this DMC when East Africa must be operable: 20 years of East Africa MICE expertise, three offices, and duty of care in the annex — not only a moodboard.

Expertise

Founded in 2006. We know which crater picnic site is still quiet, which Zanzibar tide will drown a dance floor, and which Kogatende camp is in the herds this week. Beautiful and operable are not the same.

Risk management

Named vehicles and guides, a 24-hour operations desk, contracted flying-doctor evacuation, balloon abort plans, cyclone clauses for Mauritius summer, and visa/eTA matrices by nationality. Duty of care is in the annex, not a slide.

Sustainability

Conservancy fees, community lodges, permit science and limited island guest numbers are the real story. We do not pretend long-haul aviation is carbon-neutral. ATTA and GSTC-aligned contracting sits in how we buy, not only in a footer logo.

Local partnerships

TATO, KATO, SITE, MPI, IATA. Flagship lodges contracted subject to availability. Aircraft and guide relationships held from Arusha, with Nairobi and Mauritius desks for hub and island programmes.

Case studies

Anonymised. Client names stay with the agency.

European dealer conference, Nairobi and the Mara

180 guests. Two hotel nights, Wilson airlift in waves, conservancy split, one gala in the city. Peak memory without pretending a camp was a convention centre.

North American sales incentive, Serengeti and Zanzibar

42 qualifiers. Four Seasons Serengeti plus a crater night, then three nights on the Zanzibar coast. Balloon morning for the top tier only.

EXCO retreat, Volcanoes National Park

14 directors. Permits first, fitness collected, non-trek morning designed. One&Only Gorilla’s Nest. No plenary kit.

Banking leadership offsite, Nairobi board and Amboseli

18 directors. Closed session in Karen, Wilson hop to Amboseli, two full plains days, recovery night before long-haul. Gift-policy spend caps written into the annex; no undeclared spa credits.

Technology sales Club, Maasai Mara conservancy

96 qualifiers. Conservancy buy-out across two camps, balloon subset for the top tier, awards night on property. Hybrid all-hands stayed in Nairobi the day before — not livestreamed from a mess tent.

Pharmaceutical regional medical meeting, Mauritius

120 delegates. East-coast resort plenary and breakouts, scientific agenda owned by the affiliate, hospitality inside code limits. Safari offered only as an optional employee overlay the week after — never dressed as CME.

Insurance President’s Club, Serengeti and Mauritius

64 agents plus guests. Northern Serengeti for three nights, then a Mauritius lagoon close with banquet scale. Spouse policy and FMV line items declared in the qualifier rules before the field sold the trip.

Agribusiness learning journey, Addis and Bishoftu

32 delegates. Addis working morning, contracted highland host visits, Bishoftu lake retreat for faculty dinners. No unscheduled roadside farm stops; biosecurity and road access cleared before the rooming list locked.

Energy EXCO retreat, Laikipia conservancy

12 executives. Conservancy lodge with tested bandwidth, one community morning with a named partner, HSE language from the client’s annex applied to every activity. Industrial site visits declined until access letters arrived — and they never did.

Healthcare hospital group leadership, Uganda Bwindi

16 clinical and admin leaders. Entebbe recovery, three gorilla families booked, twin-track morning for non-trekkers, celebration in camp. Staff recognition brief — not an HCP-sponsored education trip relabelled as safari.

Finance partner conference, Mauritius east coast

220 guests. Shangri-La-scale plenary, Île aux Cerfs day for accompanying programme, cyclone clause and tide plan in the gala annex. ESG questionnaire answered with contracted partners only — no invented Scope 3 numbers.

Compact four-night incentive, Zanzibar Stone Town and beach

48 qualifiers. Park Hyatt Stone Town for spice and dhow, then The Residence for three beach nights and awards. Landing-night gala refused; celebration held after the culture day when the list was actually present.
