  1. Kigali — meeting city and a carefully handled Memorial morning

    Day 1

    Arrive Kigali

    Arrive KGL. City hotel. Sleep. Nobody treks on landing day.

    Kigali Serena HotelRadisson Blu, Kigali Serena or Kigali Marriott — contracted to the list size.
    Logistics
    KGL to town 15–25 minutes. Meet-and-greet. Permits already issued — we do not collect them at the hotel bar.
    Meals
    Dinner at the hotel. No speeches.

    Yellow fever and permit names checked against passports before the group lands.

  2. One&Only Gorilla’s Nest, Foothills of Volcanoes National Park, Kinigi

    Day 2

    Volcanoes National Park

    Road or helicopter to the volcanoes. Lodge arrival. Rest. Optional Kigali Genocide Memorial only if the group landed early yesterday and still has the stomach for it — not on the trek eve if they are exhausted.

    Accommodation
    One&Only Gorilla’s NestOne&Only Gorilla’s Nest, Singita Kwitonda or Wilderness Bisate. Room count is the brief.
    Logistics
    Kigali to Musanze about 2.5–3 hours by road. Helicopter where the list and weather allow. Check-in by mid-afternoon so the briefing is not at midnight.
    Meals
    Breakfast Kigali. Lunch en route or at lodge. Dinner at lodge.
    Planner note
    Fitness notes already on the rooming list. Golden-monkey or city parallel for anyone who should not trek.

  3. Mountain gorilla with infant in the Virunga forest

    Day 3

    Gorilla trek

    Park briefing, trek matched to fitness. Return to lodge. Afternoon still. No slides after a six-hour walk.

    Logistics
    Dawn transfer to park HQ. Porters offered. Photograph rules briefed. Return by early afternoon on a typical morning — longer if the group is allocated a far family.

    Early breakfast. Packed lunch. Dinner at lodge.

    Permits are named. We do not move a permit between guests at the gate.

  4. Angama Mara, Oloololo Escarpment, Maasai Mara

    Day 4

    Kigali and fly Nairobi

    Return Kigali. Connect to NBO. Overnight in Nairobi only if the Mara hop will not land in daylight. Prefer a same-day Wilson flight when the metal allows.

    Angama MaraAngama Mara or a Mara North peer if the hop lands in daylight. Hemingways Nairobi if the connection forces a city night.
    Logistics
    Road or heli back to KGL. KQ or regional to NBO. Wilson hop 45–60 minutes. Bags tagged through where the airline will actually do it — often they will not; we plan a collect.
    Meals
    Breakfast lodge. Airport lunch. Dinner at camp or Hemingways.
    Planner note
    Reverse the country order only if KGL inbound metal is clearly better than NBO.

    Day 6

    Second Mara day

    Another plains day so Kenya is not a layover with wildlife. Walking where allowed. Pack after the afternoon drive.

    No airstrip until tomorrow. Walking with an armed guide only.
    Meals
    All meals at camp.

    Last safari night is not a packed-bag night if we can avoid it — bags can be pulled at dawn.

    Day 7

    Travel day to Mauritius

    Wilson to JKIA, then NBO–MRU. Resort arrival. Quiet dinner. No awards on the night you fly Nairobi–Mauritius.

    Logistics
    Build a full travel day. JKIA international check-in with a buffer. MRU to the east coast 45–75 minutes. Fast-track where contracted.

    Seychelles can replace Mauritius when the rooming list is smaller and the brief is granite, not golf.

    Day 8

    Mauritius lagoon

    House reef and boats from the hotel marina. Wind plan written. Non-sailors have a spa grid on the same dietary form.

    All meals at the resort unless the boat lunch is contracted.

    Resort to MRU 45–75 minutes. Buffer before long-haul. South African lists have short regional access.

    Breakfast. Lunch only if the flight is evening.
