A once-in-a-lifetime centrepiece
Gorilla trekking is the rare activity that still feels unrepeatable. That is the point of a top-tier incentive.

Kigali · Volcanoes National Park · Nyungwe · Akagera
Rwanda has become the East Africa incentive that needs no explanation: gorilla permits, One&Only and Singita lodges, a walkable capital, and a national story of renewal that many leadership teams want in the room.
Rwanda has become the East Africa incentive that needs no explanation: gorilla permits, One&Only and Singita lodges, a walkable capital, and a national story of renewal that many leadership teams want in the room.
It is not a mass destination. Permits are limited, lodges are intimate, and the right programme is 8–24 people — occasionally 40 if we split trekking days and hotels.
We sequence Kigali (briefing, memorial or city, meetings) with Volcanoes National Park, and add Nyungwe chimpanzees or Akagera savanna when the group has four nights or more.
Entry and health
Why Rwanda
Gorilla trekking is the rare activity that still feels unrepeatable. That is the point of a top-tier incentive.
One&Only Gorilla’s Nest, Singita Kwitonda, Wilderness Bisate and Nyungwe House are at the same level as the world’s best incentive inventory.
Clean, compact, well-serviced hotels and a convention calendar. Useful for boards that want one working session before the forest.
Services
Each service in Rwanda has its own planner brief — group size, venues, lead time and what we will not do.

Excursions
Full day
Permits are the first line we contract. We match group fitness to family allocation, brief on distance (one to six hours), and keep a non-trek activity for guests who should not walk.
MICE fit: The reason most Rwanda RFPs exist. One permit per guest; book at the moment of programme approval.
Half day
Shorter, often used for mixed-ability groups or a second conservation morning.
MICE fit: Excellent companion to gorilla day for spouses or less mobile guests.
Half day
Handled with care: a professional guide, no forced tone, and a private rather than public visit when the group is a leadership team.
MICE fit: Optional, never theatrical. Some clients ask for it; some do not. We follow the brief.
1–2 nights
One&Only Nyungwe House, canopy walkway, colobus, and chimpanzee tracking. A different Rwanda — rainforest rather than volcanoes.
MICE fit: Strong for 4–5 night programmes that cannot only be ‘one trek and out.’
1–2 nights
Rwanda’s savanna: lion, rhino, lakes. Wilderness Magashi is the flagship camp. Useful when the group also wants ‘classic game drive’ photography.
MICE fit: Add-on for safari-plus-gorilla itineraries without leaving the country.
Experiences

Volcanoes gorilla trekking
The centrepiece of Rwanda: permits first, fitness honestly collected, One&Only or Singita as the bed, and a parallel morning for anyone who should not trek.

1–2 nights
Nyungwe canopy and chimpanzees
Rainforest Rwanda: colobus, canopy walkway, chimpanzee tracking, tea-estate light at One&Only Nyungwe House.
Rwanda destination →
Half day from a Volcanoes lodge
Golden monkey forest walk
Volcanoes’ golden monkeys in the bamboo — shorter than a gorilla trek, still a permit, still fitness. The companion morning for guests who should not do a six-hour gorilla walk, or a second forest day for the full list.

Half day
Kigali city and Genocide Memorial
Kigali Genocide Memorial at Gisozi, handled with care: a professional guide, no forced emotion, a private rather than public visit when the group is a leadership team. Optional. Some clients ask; some do not.
Rwanda destination →
1–2 nights
Akagera National Park
Rwanda’s savanna: lion, rhino, lakes — the Big Five chapter so a gorilla programme is not only forest. Wilderness Magashi is the camp we brief first. About three hours from Kigali.
Rwanda destination →
1–2 nights
Lake Kivu
The lake after the forest: boat, coffee islands, a still night in Rubavu or Karongi. Recovery geography when the brief has gorillas and still needs a down day before the airport.

June–September and December–February are the planner’s first choice. Trekking is year-round.
Incentives: Secure gorilla permits before announcing dates to winners. Lodge inventory around Volcanoes sells out in peak months 12–18 months ahead.
Meetings: Kigali is year-round. Pair a one-day board session with two nights in Volcanoes for a leadership retreat that feels considered, not rushed.
| Season | Months | Planner notes |
|---|---|---|
| Long dry | June – September | Best trekking conditions, clearest volcano views, highest demand for permits and lodges. |
| Short rains | October – November | Still very bookable; paths muddier; photography can be superb. Carry kit. |
| Short dry | December – February | Popular with northern-hemisphere winter incentives. Book permits early around Christmas/New Year. |
| Long rains | March – May | Trekking continues; expect mud and longer walks. Lodge rates can be more flexible. |

Arrive Kigali, sleep, trek the following day at the earliest — never same-day altitude and forest.
Middle East
Qatar Doha–Kigali; connections via ADD and NBO
Clean overnight patterns for Gulf agencies.
India & Asia
Qatar, Emirates via DXB then regional, RwandAir partnerships, KQ via Nairobi
Nairobi remains a useful staging city for multi-country East Africa programmes.
South Africa
RwandAir, Kenya Airways via NBO, Ethiopian via ADD from Johannesburg
Kigali is compact: arrive, sleep, trek the next day. Do not trek on landing day.
Latin America
Two-stop via Europe, Doha or Addis into KGL
Gorilla programmes from Latin America need 7+ nights if safari or beach is added. Permits first.
Road to Volcanoes (Musanze) is the standard: paved, 2.5–3 hours, we use private coaches or 4x4s with a rest stop. Nyungwe is a longer scenic drive or a domestic hop when schedules allow. Helicopter transfers can be arranged for ultra-high-end groups.

Sample programme

Day 1
Arrive, hotel, optional memorial or city, working dinner or free evening.
Day 2–3
Lodge, gorilla trek, golden monkeys or cultural visit, celebration dinner.
Day 4
Either a rainforest extension or a flight onward to Zanzibar, Mauritius or home.
Sample itineraries

9 nights · 10-day outline
Rwanda gorilla permits, a Kenya or Tanzania savanna chapter, then Mauritius or Seychelles. Nine nights is the honest minimum. Compressing this into six nights makes the trip feel like airports.
8–24 high-value qualifiers or EXCO

8 nights · 9-day outline
Nairobi and the Mara first, then Kigali and a trek. Permits booked at programme approval. Eight nights is the minimum if you refuse to trek on a travel day. Reverse the order only if KGL metal is the better inbound.
8–24

8 nights · 9-day outline
Kilimanjaro, Serengeti or Grumeti, then Kigali and a trek. Connect via NBO or a designed regional hop. Permits first. Eight nights so the crater-or-plains chapter and the forest chapter both get a sleep.
8–24

8 nights · 9-day outline
Arusha, timed crater descent, rim lodge, then Kigali and Volcanoes. Vehicle limits on the crater are a logistics item. Trek the day after KGL, never the same afternoon as Kilimanjaro metal. A second Tanzania–Rwanda shape when the brief is crater, not migration.
8–24

4 nights · 5-day outline
Kigali arrival and a professional city morning, then Volcanoes National Park for a fitness-matched gorilla trek and a recovery night. Built for diaries that can spare four nights — not for groups that should not walk.
8–16 directors (permit-capped)
FAQ
Each gorilla family visit is capped (typically eight visitors). Large incentives are split across families and days.
We design a parallel morning: lodge spa, community, golden monkeys, or a scenic drive. Nobody is left in a bus.
Tanzania, Kenya, Rwanda, Uganda and Zanzibar require a yellow fever vaccination certificate upon arrival. We collect it with passports on the rooming list — do not leave it to the airport queue.
