How we run it

The island is close. The sea in between is still a channel. We book a proper boat, a shade stop with the tortoises, and a snorkel only for guests who opted in. Non-swimmers get the island and the story, not a punishment hour on the reef.

This sits naturally after a Stone Town morning if the group slept in town. From Nungwi it is a long day; we will say so. We do not run Prison Island the afternoon of a JRO–ZNZ hop.

What is included

— Boat from Stone Town, skipper and a timed tortoise visit
— History brief — prison, quarantine, the island as it is now
— Optional snorkel with swimming confidence collected in advance
— Shade and water; a shortened visit if the channel turns

What we will not do

— Channel weather can cancel. The backup is a longer Stone Town or spice morning, not a fight with the sea.
— Not a full Blue Safari. Different geography, different tide story.
