What does a MICE programme cost per delegate in East Africa?
There is no honest single per-delegate price on this map. Cost follows season, lodge tier, internal air, permits, group size and whether you are buying a camp, a gorilla hour or a Mauritius gala. We quote against a brief — we do not publish a fake number.
What we tell planners
There is no responsible website number for ‘cost per delegate in East Africa.’ A 16-person President’s Club in peak northern Serengeti with balloon and a Zanzibar close is a different commercial object from a 140-person Mauritius dealer gala or a Nairobi board of twelve. Industry-wide incentive spend moves every year; global averages (the Incentive Travel Index has published per-person figures in the mid-thousands of US dollars) are not a Serengeti Experience rate card and are not a Tanzania park-fee quote.
What actually drives the ground number: peak versus shoulder (July–October Mara/Serengeti and gorilla dry months cost scarcity); lodge tier; conservancy and park fees; gorilla permits; internal light aircraft versus road; specialist days (balloon, crater, catamaran); staff ratios; medevac; and whether the DMC fee is itemised. What drives the fully loaded number the CFO sees: long-haul air, visas, guest policy, EXCO seats, and whether you omitted Wilson or Arusha charters from the ‘cheap safari.’
Send incentive houses a budget band or a cap and a headcount. We will return an itemised stack, not a wristband. If procurement needs a comparable, compare like with like: same month, same lodge class, same air-in versus air-out. We will not invent a per-person figure to win a first call.
What to brief next
- — No published per-delegate rate — the brief decides the stack.
- — Separate ground cost from fully loaded (long-haul, visas, internal air, permits).
- — Peak camps and gorilla permits are scarcity pricing; Mauritius and Nairobi scale differently.
