What technology and connectivity can we expect at remote safari venues?
Starlink has improved many Tanzania and Kenya camps. It has not turned them into convention centres. Nairobi, Addis and Mauritius hold hybrid meetings. Camp wifi is for a deck and email — live global broadcast is a special request with a backup.
What we tell planners
Remote safari venues in the Serengeti, Mara, Ngorongoro rim, Bwindi and Simien are in a different connectivity class from Nairobi five-stars, Addis hotels, Mauritius resorts and inner-island Seychelles. Many camps now have Starlink or equivalent. That usually means email, messaging and a slide deck. It does not mean a guaranteed live town hall to four continents from a six-tent seasonal camp. The proposal should name the property’s likely bandwidth, not ‘wifi available.’
Power, adapters and a print-or-PDF plan still belong in the ops manual. Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania are often UK-style plugs; Ethiopia is often European; Mauritius and Seychelles vary by hotel. Silent projector and screen can be supplied in many lodges if we know about 60 days out. Broadcast-quality AV remains a city or top-tier resort job.
If the corporate event manager’s real brief is hybrid or exhibition, do not pick a crater rim. If the brief is a board of twelve with a morning of slides, we will write the limitation so IT is not surprised in Seronera. Outer-island Seychelles and some Zanzibar east-coast properties still need an honest note.
What to brief next

- — Broadcast-quality: Nairobi, Addis or Mauritius. Camp: honest limits and a PDF backup.
